The pilot claimed an internal issue then an external equipment issue that needed to be adddressed. Overall it was a miserable experience... I will never fly spirit for more than a 3 hour flight or overnight. I had no legroom, although I paid for extra legroom. I could barely put my bag in front of my feet and under the seat. In fact the flight attendant said that they had to reboot it and see if it was going to work and never did.

The plane was old and you are required to connect your own device to their Wi-Fi rather than have entertainment options in the back of the seat in front of you. The Wi-Fi went out during the flight and there was only one plug for the devices every two seats. Three out of five surrounding my family did not work. Laura's jealousy leads to her accusing Mary of deliberately encouraging Johnny and they fall out. Caroline and Charles both have quiet talks with Laura to restore harmony in the family. Adam falls in love with Miss Beadle, while Luke and Nellie Oleson fall for each other. After Miss Beadle talks to Nellie about love and marriage, Nellie and Luke decide to get married. In this episode, Mary has just about the most difficult first teaching job that a young girl can possibly have.

Eventually, Charles, while on a business trip to Sleepy Eye, discovers the truth about Danforth’s method. He performs a hustle from town to town, with the same three people in the audience pretending to need saving. Charles shows up at one of Danforth’s church services and reveals the truth. Charles, Albert, James and Mr. Edwards travel to Sleepy Eye on business. James, wanting to open a savings account with his birthday check from Uncle Jed, walks into the bank as it is being robbed.

Laura feels the first stirrings of attraction to a boy named Jimmy Hill (Chris Petersen) with whom she has previously enjoyed playing baseball and going fishing, but he does not respond in the same way. When a new girl arrives in school who looks like a rival, Laura decides she must compete for him by giving up her 'tom-boy' behaviour and becoming more like Nellie. When Laura's new strategy does not work, her Ma persuades her that she should be true to her real self.

They all seem to have forgotten that she was married three episodes earlier, in “Here Come the Brides“, and took her husband’s last name. In this episode, Laura (Melissa Gilbert) gets to act in a few dream sequences where she wears a beautiful, puffy white dress and has her hair curled impeccably. She had very similar dream sequences in Season 2‘s, “At the End of the Rainbow,” where she fantasized about her family being rich.

The aftereffects caused her to go blind, and she was carrying Annie at the time of the sickness, who contracted them as well. While out fishing, Laura finds a bottle in the creek with a note inside that reads "Be my friend." She eventually persuades Charles to help her look for the writer of the note, but instead they find an abandoned baby. Laura looks after the baby, whom she names Grace, while Charles tries to find the parents. Charles first locates the young father, Bobbie, and together they find the mother who is his beloved, Anna.

Meanwhile, Laura becomes depressed when she goes to ask Almanzo to the circus, only to find out that he is already taking a rude, snobby and snooty young woman named Christie, for whom she has been mending a dress. When she delivers the dress five minutes late, Christie refuses to pay her the full amount. Laura has a heart to heart with the sad clown about Almanzo and discovers the clown is the circus manager! He keeps her secret and allows her to be an unrecognizable clown at the circus.

In the event, she does go, but theatrically dressed in black funeral clothes. Nels later reminds Harriet that his mother similarly opposed their marriage, and he says he has never regretted it. When Percival's parents visit Walnut Grove for the birth of Nellie's baby, Percival reveals that his real name is Isaac Cohen, much to Harriet's consternation. Percival's father, Benjamin, is passionately and devoutly Jewish, which brings him into conflict with Harriet and her Christian beliefs, especially over the question of which religion the new baby will be raised in. Nels brokers a truce between Benjamin and Harriet with the suggestion that a boy should be raised in the Jewish faith and a girl should be raised as a Christian. When Nellie gives birth, she unexpectedly has twins, a girl and a boy, so Nellie and Percival agree to raise their son Benjamin as Jewish and their daughter Jennifer as a Christian.

Harriet becomes very depressed, and Doc Baker suggests she and Nels adopt, but it takes a visit from Cassandra to revive Harriet's spirits. At the orphanage in Sleepy Eye, Harriet's wish is realized when she finds a young girl named Nancy who reminds her of Nellie and of Harriet herself as a child. Nancy quickly causes trouble at the school in Walnut Grove, but Laura has already worked out that Nancy is another Nellie. Joe Kagan gives up his farm and moves to Sleepy Eye to work with Jonathan Garvey in his freight business and hoping to persuade Hester-Sue to marry him. However, although she has feelings for Joe, he reminds her of her shiftless and unfaithful ex-husband, and she has plans to marry a successful local businessman.

Identified in the Airport’s 2016 Master Plan Update, the Fourth Parallel Runway program was identified to address runway capacity to meet future demand at acceptable levels of runway delay. The construction of the South End-Around Taxiway will require a relocation of one mile of West Boulevard. With the expansion and reconfiguration of the airfield, an additional Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting facility is needed to support airfield emergency response times. And with Destination CLT, the airport’s ongoing $3.1 billion multiphase capital investment program, visitors are likely to find something new during every visit. The plan continues to reflect Charlotte Douglas International Airport’s mission. We will remain cost-competitive and financially sustainable – no general tax dollars will be used. You need to find parking if you come by car, get a boarding pass, go through security, and find the correct location and gate for your flight to leave. Even if you carry a pre-printed boarding pass, it's best to have a small margin of time, in case you have to wait in line. This is especially true for travel during the high season when terminals are overcrowded with passengers.

When they approached the residence, the suspect, later identified as Terry Clark Hughes Jr., fired at them with an AR-15-style rifle and a 40-caliber handgun from the second floor of a house, the police said.

A pound of dried flower, which just a few years earlier would sell in California for more than $2,000, was now worth less than $300. Her plants are organically nurtured in microbe-rich soil and mulched with a winter cover of fava beans.

She spent years developing sweet-scented stocks, grown herself from seed, so that when she pops opens a harvest tub in her state-inspected processing facility, a converted root cellar, the smell is heavy with pineapple and coconut. She is part of the cultural movement that was at the core of California’s early cannabis industry. Because of the Proposition 64 prohibition barring counties that do not permit commercial growing from state enforcement grants, they rely on funding from the federal Drug Enforcement Agency. Last month, four men who appeared to be in their 30s surrounded a Times photographer parked along the public highway outside Mount Shasta Vista, where he had stopped to document water trucks in the distance filling up at a hay farmer’s well. One of the men took out a tire iron and began hitting the photographer’s car, denting the body and smashing the rear windshield and a sideview mirror.

Take the cannabis department’s January letter to the attorney general’s office. The state attorney general is Rob Bonta, a Bay Area Democrat, who as a state legislator previously was a staunch advocate of legalization. Farrar and others in the business believe California’s cannabis would have an edge in any new market, given the historic mystique surrounding its origin.

In the ensuing shootout, one of the men was killed and his wounded accomplices fled on foot through the rocky cannabis farms, calling 911 to beckon police to their rescue. The Times mapped more than 1,300 farms in Juniper Flat last year. Their greenhouses covered more than 10 million square feet, a 4,200% increase since 2018. Butte County, at the northern end of the state’s Central Valley, tried to ban commercial cultivation, but the area covered by cannabis greenhouses in Berry Creek soared 700% in five years.

So do the killings of two Hmong women from Milwaukee in 2019. They were shot on a cannabis farm near the Oregon state line, where another enclave has settled, rarely visited by police. Some built industrial-scale complexes that made the small Hmong camps look timid. Similar cannabis-centric enclaves emerged across Northern California, often named after Laotian mountains or battlefields.

The rugged forests and valleys of Mendocino County, deep in the heart of California’s famed Emerald Triangle, renowned for the quality and quantity of its weed production, have an estimated 5,000 illegal cannabis farms. The grows range from homestead farms to dangerous drug-trade operations, such as one where deputies this spring found an AK-47 modified for full-automatic fire. Court filings show Lee was central to a highly organized cannabis operation. Investigators raiding his houses found water delivery schedules and receipts for dues for a 534-member association.

Co-owners Bobby Arndt and Kortney Widnark capitalized on the cannabis lovers’ holiday. Covelo residents who spoke to The Times asked that their names not be used because they were fearful of the growers around them. Small outdoor cash crops were common on Round Valley’s patchwork of private, federal and reservation lands. Mendocino County and the tribes were tolerant, even if the U.S. A federal prosecutor in the case said there was no interest in investigating beyond Li, saying the case had met its primary goal, shutting down a community nuisance. The promise of ‘social equity’ has been a key narrative tied to California’s legalized pot industry.

Everything from our cultivation efforts, to our retail stores, to the brands we create and carry are crafted and curated to deliver an unrivaled experience for our customers. No, a prescription is not required to go to an adult use dispensary in Los Angeles, CA, only a medical cannabis dispensary. “Going from, I had to fight just to get it heard to where it’s now a unanimous decision, I think people now understand how important it is to ferret out corruption, even if it’s just one elected official,” he said. Assemblyman Jim Patterson (R-Fresno) agreed that there was an “undercurrent of misconduct” in cannabis licensing. He suggested that his own community be among those examined to determine which practices are least likely to lead to corruption.

Nobody seems to care,” said Persing, exasperation wearing on his voice. A water delivery truck rumbles down a dusty cinder road in the Mount Shasta Vista community. Lee said most of the cannabis in Mount Shasta Vista was grown for personal use and “the old way of medicine,” such as brewing cannabis tea and putting it in the shower for steam baths.

Corruption is widespread in Californias weed industry Now, the state is taking action Los Angeles Times

Legalization supporters have attempted a variety of legislative models over the past decade, only to see them struck down by the Senate. But for advocates, with Sununu declining to run for reelection, legalization could be now or never. After years of wavering between skepticism and outright opposition to cannabis legalization in New Hampshire, Sununu surprised many in May 2023 when he released a statement saying he would sign a legalization bill if it met certain criteria. But the governor has already raised issues with the bill, arguing that it does not follow his vision of establishing retail cannabis outlets that are tightly controlled by the state. New Hampshire’s cannabis legalization effort has reached a tricky crossroads.

We are excited to be bringing our level of experience and keen eye for quality flower back to the Tacoma market place for our patrons to enjoy. Law enforcement seized 331,866 pounds of unlicensed cannabis product, destroyed 54,137 cannabis plants, and seized $34,858 in total cash, in addition to confiscating 11 firearms and arresting four people. Law enforcement frequently intercepted shipments of hundred-pound parcels of cannabis sent from the Mount Shasta Vista farms. The sheriff’s posse mounted dawn raids and the county Board of Supervisors passed ordinances that not only banned commercial cannabis but the water deliveries that kept the grows green. Absent state regulation, permitting took the form of zip ties sold by the sheriff to identify legal plants and protect them from raids. The winners include big growers like Glass House, which also owns two smaller cannabis greenhouses north of here in Carpinteria and, in all, produces about 300,000 pounds of cannabis for sale annually.

A single-burner camp stove suggested cooking, but there was no food. Officers used a mini-dozer to raze cannabis beneath a hoop house built out of PVC pipe, while Persing peered inside one of the plywood sheds used for habitation. He laid the search warrant and a receipt for 157 pounds of seized cannabis on a mattress set on two-by-fours, beside an empty rifle case. On a sunny day in October, Persing’s team hit four small growing camps. Alerted by the lookouts, the growers had fled by the time the convoy arrived. Only a penned dog was left, snarling and snapping, a pile of dry food on the ground kicked through the bars as though even its owners were afraid to get close.

In one of the few federal cases that resulted in a conviction for illegal cultivation, probation officials recommended four years in prison for Aaron Li. In the valley below, the white forms of hoop houses stretched for miles. Even with Lee sidelined, the expansion of cannabis farms in Mount Shasta Vista continued, attracting other groups who spilled out across the valley of Juniper Flat. He joined the generations of growers who dodged the law while building an economic and social fabric that filled the void left by the collapse of the timbering industry.

Police have no clue where he died, but they presume it was a cannabis operation. Regulators in 2020 sent satellite images that showed large hoop houses on his Mendocino County property that were not permitted under his state cultivation license. Enforcement efforts against the illicit market are spread across a variety of state agencies with insufficient resources and very different priorities. Seven years after water regulators set out to map and measure the impact of cannabis cultivation in California, the work remains unfinished. The boom accompanied a switch in cultivation technique, from annual harvests of outdoor plots to large, canopy-covered hoop houses that permit three to five harvests a year.

Both CBD topicals and THC topicals are applied directly to the surface of the skin to effectively soothe pain, soreness, and inflammation in muscles and joints. On one 2021 raid, deputies found bottles of Metrifos, with “peligroso” — dangerous — and a skull and crossbones on the label. The nerve poison, taken off the U.S. market in 2009, is still sold in Mexico to protect crops from rodents. The sheriff said one deputy became ill after the raid and was hospitalized with poisoning symptoms. Sarabia had his eyes on the expanding world of legal cannabis. Should Wisconsin approve recreational cannabis, he claimed on a 2020 wiretapped call, influential political connections guaranteed Sarabia a wholesale license.

It has to be at a level in which it is actually impairing the employee's ability to do his or her job." In September, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Assembly Bill 2188 (AB-2188), which addresses how an employer can test employees or potential employees for cannabis. LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- There are a number of California laws on the books when it comes to marijuana, including one meant to stop employers from punishing workers who use cannabis when they are not on the job. Representative French Hill, a senior Republican on the Financial Services Committee, said he would support combination legislation tying marijuana banking to stablecoin regulation if negotiators can reach a deal. Laborers described 14-hour days, living in tents without sanitation and having to provide their own food with the promise of pay after the harvest, if it came at all.

The bill would allow for the pre-approval of retail licenses as early as this summer so businesses can start preparing for opening day. It gives the opportunity for brands to get their samples in front of buyers and a chance to try firsthand, the freshest flower, new products, and unique drops. The sheriff’s cannabis enforcement team consists of a single sergeant and a part-time deputy. I would recommend this place to anyone with any type of budget. House of Cannabis - Tacoma takes advantage of the fact that cannabis comes in many forms to provide customers with an extensive inventory of high-quality products. Customers can purchase pure, unadulterated cannabis in the form of flowers or buds. Alternatively, they can opt for pre-made items like edibles and oils. Willits spent her childhood in Covelo visiting family, roaming the valley, swimming in the creek beside spawning salmon. She was appalled to return as an adult and find so many community members dependent on leasing to illegal growers. The murder investigation included a search of a bank of cannabis farms where another worker died of carbon monoxide poisoning the year before. With the surge in illegal cultivation came heavy-duty weapons, violence and lethal chemicals.

Small Ship Cruising: An Expert's Ultimate Guide!

Popular activities in the region range from bird watching and snorkeling/Scuba diving to fascinating history tours. But the more remote islands of the Lesser Antilles (which form the eastern boundary of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean) are generally less over-developed and more pristine than those crowded mass tourism destinations. A Seychelles cruise is the best way to explore the islands’ myriad attractions. These range from idyllic beaches and abundant marine life to cities like Victoria (the country’s capital), which are rich with a unique mixture of African, British, Chinese, French, and Indian cultural influences. As a result, Botswana has emerged as one of the world’s hottest ecotourism destinations. There are Big 5 safaris at Moremi Nature Reserve and canoe trips through the Okavanago Delta, plus uncrowded gems such as Nxai Pan National Park and the Central Kalahari Game Reserve.

New Zealand: A North & South Island Adventure

You can explore Mediterranean waters powered by the wind whenever possible, giving a wonderful romance to your cruise that's hard to beat. Carrying just 227 guests, Royal Clipper is small enough to stop at some smaller ports along the French and Italian Rivieras. Expect historical walking tours and cultural experiences in towns, while hiking and wildlife viewing are on offer in more natural ports. Most of UnCruise small ships in Alaska sail between Ketchikan and Juneau, between Sitka and Juneau, or round trip from Juneau, though repositioning departures from Seattle are also on offer (typically at the start and end of each season).

Blue Danube: Family Riverboat Adventure

The ships also feature a gym, yoga studio, spa, ocean-view saunas, library and two dining venues. I've sailed on more than 125 cruise ships of all sizes, but my favorites have never been the big "floating resorts." The ship sails destination-intensive itineraries predominantly in the Caribbean, Adriatic and Middle East. Activities on shore -- most of which are included in the cruise fares -- focus on kayaking, cycling, swimming, snorkelling and hiking, with a smattering of cultural and culinary tours. The ship's marina has a swimming platform and offers water toys, such as paddleboards, Jet Skis, water skis, snorkelling equipment and kayaks. Esprit's most unusual feature is its three-person submarine (tours at additional cost).

Onboard facilities include 10 dining experiences, including a Champagne bar and private dining room for just eight people, the Senses Spa and suites with private hot tubs. Water sports include an inflatable trampoline, paddle-boards and kayaks and the ship has Zodiacs for wildlife spotting and shore excursions. A realistic budget goes a long way in helping decide between a large or small ship and on your stateroom selection. Your budget will certainly be a deciding factor in the length of cruise as well. A ship of this elegance deserves to be seen in the most glamorous locations. In March 2024, Emerald Azzurra follows a route around some of the Caribbean's most lusted-after locations, including Barbados, Tobago, Bequia, and Grenada. For the first few days, Kirsty will be on hand to chat with guests about the history of modern Scotland - the perfect conversation as you glide past exceptional Scottish scenery.

After passing through various owners, Sea Cloud I has spent the last several decades offering casually elegant windjammer cruises to old-ship lovers from Europe and North America. The one-of-a-kind, four-masted Sea Cloud was originally commissioned as a private luxury yacht by multi-millionaire Wall Street titan E. Hutton's extravagant heiress and businesswoman wife, Marjorie Merriweather Post, oversaw the ship's interior design, outfitting it in marble, mahogany and gold-plated fixtures.

The fleet's three vessels -- flagship 227-passenger Royal Clipper and 170-passenger twins Star Clipper and Star Flyer -- are some of the fastest clipper ships ever built in modern times. Feel the sails, catch the breeze,  visit the captain and officers in the open bridge, or climb high in the rigging. Celebrity's Galapagos cruise ships combine the line's modern style and focus on service and cuisine with a local, small ship ambience. Destination-oriented features are incorporated into the onboard experience; such as a performance highlighting Ecuadorian folklore on Xpedition and regionally inspired sustainable decor on Flora.

If you’re into wreck diving and history, the San Francisco Maru (discovered in 1972) is a must-see. The ship’s cargo holds are filled with sea mines, torpedoes, bombs, aircraft engines, two Japanese tanks and many more WW2 artifacts. The Cyclades, with 220+ islands, is the densest and most popular grouping in Aegean archipelago thanks to Delos, Mykonos, and Santorini. For ancient history, the Dodecanese Islands (especially Rhodes) and Crete are hard to beat. Must-see sites you can visit while cruising the Black Sea include Instanbul’s Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque, Romania’s Danube River Delta, the Ukranian city of Odessa, and Sochi Olympic Park, the first theme park in all of Russia. Included among the Lesser Antilles islands are Martinique, St. Lucia, Saba, Sint Eustatius, and Grenada, which has recently emerged as a haven for ecotourism.

Swell, a unique 88-foot converted tugboat built in 1912, carries up to 12 guests in six private en-suite cabins. The classic wooden construction of the vessel has been maintained, and cabins are paneled with wood. There is a hot tub on the aft deck, and a cozy lounge that doubles as a dining area. American Cruise Lines small ship sailings in Alaska include itineraries through the Inside Passage and Southeast Alaska. The line has traditionally drawn an older crowd more interested in ports than adventure, and its Alaska sailings are heavy on narrated boat, coach and walking tours. There are three 450-passenger ships from Seabourn on this list -- Odyssey, Quest and Sojourn -- and two 600-passenger ships, Encore and Ovation.

It features an appealing seating area facing the sea and an ocean-view sauna. The Atlas Ocean Voyages ship has terrific outdoor spots for remarkable views (not hogged by a helipad or stern and aft suite balconies), including a close-to-the-water spot on Deck 5 forward and a "secret" arc of deck on Deck 6 aft. Near the well-stocked library is the Expedition Study, where the 20-member expedition team is accessible for questions. Outdoor deck space includes the forward-facing bow area with an outdoor hot tub. There's an impressive spa, salon and gym with panoramic ocean views and several lounges for drinks (always included) and lectures.

Green Global Travel is the world's #1 independently owned ecotourism website encouraging others to embrace sustainable travel, wildlife conservation, cultural preservation, and going green tips for more sustainable living. When it comes to Chilean travel, the wine region around Santiago and the dynamic landscapes of Torres del Paine National Park in Patagonia tend to get most of the attention. From viewing the Aurora Borealis to learning about Inuit cultural traditions, this is a dream trip for every explorer’s bucket list. The Arctic region encompasses northern Alaska and Canada, most of Greenland, and parts of Russia and Scandinavia. It’s home to more than 500,000 indigenous peoples (whose ancestors settled there tens of thousands of years ago) and an impressive array of wildlife. On the map, this inland sea looks more like a giant lake, connected to the Aegean Sea (and the Mediterranean) by the narrow Bosphorus Strait.

Crystal teams up with celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa for a popular Japanese-fusion restaurant, while Oceania's menus are created in collaboration with famed chef Jacques Pepin. You'll definitely want to make reservations for specialty dining on all these ships, since you'll be competing for the best tables and dining times with hundreds of other travelers. Most of the ships in this category also offer a variety of suites that give you more square footage, space to dine in your cabin and outdoor furniture to enjoy on your veranda. Ships from Silversea offer butler service with every stateroom, which equates to an ultra-luxurious experience for all. Small ships range from megayachts and sailing vessels of less than 5,000 tons to ships of about 25,000 tons. These ships may carry as few as 70 passengers or as many as 350 and tend to be more upscale although that isn’t always the case.

Small ships can be welcomed at smaller ports and can sometimes tie up at docks where the town or places of interest are simply a short stroll away. Smaller ships often have special access to churches and museums after they close to the public, to host a unique concert or performance ranging from folk dancing to opera. Fewer guests give small ships the ability to structure tours, special meals, market visits and other events that may prove more challenging for larger ships. The line's 148- to 342-passenger sailing ships and 312-passenger, all-suite motor yachts received praise from voters.

For more ideas, we’ve rounded up the best small ship cruises to help you pick the perfect nautical holiday. On Sea Cloud Spirit, passengers benefit from both age-old seafaring techniques and modern comforts. With the exception of the smaller vessels, each ship has lounges for happy hours, as well as post-dinner lectures and programs.
